John S. Katsogridakis

John "Yiannis" Katsogridakis, a longtime resident of Harrison, died on 10/24/18, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Rethymnon, Greece on February 13, 1936, he was the youngest of three children born to Yiannis and Despina (nee Sprydakis) Katsogridakis.

John served in the Greek Air Force based in Athens where he was an engineer, working on helicopters and fighter jets. In the mid 1960's, attributable to his opposition in Greek politics, he moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

John met his first wife, Dr. Adelaida B. Limcaoco, a physician, who was completing her training in Winnipeg. They had their first child, a son, Yiannis in 1968. Three years later, they relocated to New York and had their second child, a daughter, Despina in 1971.

John married his second wife, Marina Dushas, an attorney in 1977. They had a daughter, Noel Maria in 1981. They resided in Harrison, NY where John remained for 37 years. He loved the town of Harrison and became an active member in local politics and supported local business owners.

John was a life insurance agent for over 40 years with New York Life, and a proud member of the service organization founded by Greek immigrants, Ahepa. For over 35 years, he worshipped at the Church of Our Savior, in Rye, NY.

John is survived by his son, Dr. Yiannis (Irene) Katsogridakis, the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in IL; daughter Despina (Adrian) Santiago, a clinical social worker at Rising Ground in Yonkers, NY; daughter Noel (Tom) Petriello, a teacher in the New Rochelle, NY school district. He is the beloved grandfather to Maria Elena and Yiannis Katsogridakis; Juliet and Luke Petriello.
